This innovative lightweight technology, which has until now been employed predominantly in sports car manufacture, can deliver lower fuel consumption and greater agility, meaning increased efficiency.
TFSI® engine
Hard at work under the bonnet of the Audi S6 Saloon is a 4.0 V8 TFSI engine featuring the innovative new Audi cylinder on demand technology. This keeps just four of the eight cylinders operating at partial throttle – without you noticing any difference. The engine continues to run smoothly and powerfully, but its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced accordingly.
Energy recovery
The energy recovery system converts kinetic energy into electrical energy during an overrun or braking phase. When the car accelerates again, the battery feeds the temporarily stored energy back into the vehicle‘s electrical system. This relieves the load on the alternator, thereby saving fuel.
